Another snippet, continuing from the last two weeks, from my second books, Aristeia: A Little Rebellion, being released June 1, 2012. Check out information at the end for ways to win free copies of the book in the ongoing contest!

“I’d be lying if I said I hadn’t considered just disappearing,” Maarkean finally said. “But I helped to start something, and I can’t just walk away from it. The Alliance needs to know it crossed the line.”

Saracasi was once again taken off guard by the determination in her brother’s voice. She felt guilty for not being happier about it. She had pushed him for years every time the Alliance had violated its core principles. Now that he agreed, she had her own reasons for wishing it were otherwise—reasons she had not yet shared with anyone, and was not sure she ever could.

The hyperspace timer sounded on her computer, saving her from having to think any further about it. She ran a quick diagnosis of the engine systems before they reverted to real space. The twisted display of colors outside the cockpit window flashed and was replaced by the darkness of space. Before her in the distance lay the brown and blue world of Kol.

“Destination confirmed. Beginning sensor sweep,” Saracasi said formally.

Is she one of those people that you can’t ever please for one reason or another? She finally gets her way, and she’s STILL not happy. smh

No, very much not that. One problem with snippets, very easy to get the wrong idea about something.

Internal conflict and a new planet for bad stuff to happen. What could be better?

Sue Ann Bowling · May 26, 2012 at 10:58 pm

But what did he start?

Cassandra Davis · May 27, 2012 at 12:54 am

I’d give anything to have a conversation like this with my (late) brother. Tell him how you feel Saracasi!

Misa Buckley · May 27, 2012 at 10:09 am

What did he do? What is she hiding? Dammit, I need to know.
Guess I’d better buy the book…

So when is she going to spill the beans on her own doubts?

cpsingleton · May 28, 2012 at 5:53 am

Her anxiousness has grown with each snippet. I don’t know what she’s hiding, but I’M starting to get nervous about it. Great tension.
