Graduating from engineering school near the end of the AI War, Vlasa faced an unfortunate backlash against Echanic’s during the war years. The emergence of AI sentience began on Chan and spread to the galaxy from there. The Central AI, too, first appeared on that planet. Many believed the Echanic’s predilection for cybernetic enhancements led one of them to cause this sentient emergence to occur, though no definitive evidence has been found linking anyone or any organization to this emergence. This prejudice made finding work difficult for the young engineer. Based on his skill level, this explains why he ended up working as the mechanic for a barely profitable transport ship, instead of for some established engineering corporation.
Like most members of his species, Vlasa has undergone extensive cybernetic replacements. Last reports indicate both of his legs, one arm, one eye and several internal organs have upgraded. He is fast approaching the point where his body will be more mechanical than biological. In fact, if based on mass, rather than surface area, he may have already passed that point.

Based on assessments of Seraph‘s condition when brought into PUG shipyards for repairs following the LFD incident, Vlasa has a unique talent with handling starship systems. Rumor exist suggesting since that time, Seraph has come into possession of a Zolan shield. If this is true, and Vlasa has managed to make one function, it is highly desirable that he be recruited by PUG.
