When you are self-employed and get sick, you don’t have to worry about taking sick days. You can take as many as you want.
The problem is, you don’t get much done that way.

Or, if you’re an independent contractor like me, you simply don’t get paid. It definitely changes the threshold for how sick you have to be to go into the office.

It’s a little better for me, since I wouldn’t get paid if I worked today or not. It’s just another day before I’m finished with the next book and it can be released and sold.
