SciFi Fantasy Saturday- June 2

As they descended into the atmosphere, one of the suborbital passenger transports caught her attention. The vehicle suddenly changed course to an intercept vector with them. Before she could verify her initial assessment, she lost sensor data due to interference from reentry.
There could be any number of reasons for the transport to change course. Maybe there was bad weather at their destination, or they were having mechanical difficulty, or their course was erratic because they were simply sightseeing instead of going someplace in particular. The sensors identified it as a simple passenger transport with no armament or even shielding. Yet something about it bothered her.
Saracasi increased power to the shields, from the minimal levels for flight to full combat strength. There was no harm in strengthening the shields, aside from the increased energy drain. She debated saying something to Maarkean but didnât want to look foolish.
Immediately upon emerging from the reentry blind spot, she began looking for the transport. Her suspicions appeared to be confirmed when she couldnât locate it. The ship had changed course again while they were blinded. It was now flying a parallel path with them, slightly above and behind them. The odds were still high that the ship had done this for purely innocent reasons, but she decided she couldnât risk that anymore.
âAlter course,â Saracasi told Maarkean.
âWhat?â
âEvasive maneuvers, now!â she said more forcefully.

I always make sure to do a few ‘crazy-Ivans’ during re-entry – especially after the blind spot. Can’t be too careful.

Wayne, sorry had problems posting here yesterday. I liked the set up and hints of characterizations via thought processes and that you’re setting up not only the pending danger from the ship but that there is some amount of conflict between him and her and her not wanting to look “foolish”.

Maybe it’s just one of those intergalactic mobile libraries and he has a book over-due! They can be sticklers for tardiness! I was chased around the Horsehead Nebula by our local librarian. You just can’t shake the buggers off!
Or maybe it most probably isn’t and I digress.
