Movies!

Published by Wayne on

Apparently the next Star Trek movie comes out in 2013. I was under the impression that it was coming out next year. This makes me sad, but a little happy. It will be much easier to get away to see a movie when we have a 15month old rather than a 3 month old. Or I hope it will be. This discovery got me thinking about movies. We don’t go to movies very often, wait for a lot to come out on Netflix. But we like to see some in the theater. Certain movies just give a better first viewing in a theater set-up. At least until I have a full surround sound system and a blu-ray player.

This weekend we went to see the Muppets. It was awesome. Very much a movie for people who grew up with the Muppets. Not sure how much appeal it would have for kids. There were a lot of adults in the theater, despite all the previews being for kid movies.

As for future movies that come out in the next year, there are actually quite a few I want to go see, preferably in the theater.

  1. Sherlock Holmes (because of travel, won’t get to see it until 2012)
  2. The Avengers
  3. Dark Knight Rises
  4. The Hobbit
  5. Bond: Skyfall

As you can see, that’s not a lot of movies, but it’s more than this year.  The only movies I can recall seeing in the theater this year are:

  1. X-Men First Class
  2. Captain America
  3. Harry Potter
  4. The Muppets

The numbers aren’t to far off, but X-Men and Captain America I went to by myself and only because working from home afforded me some free time. My wife will want to see all of next years movies. We decided to wait on DVD for Thor, Cowboys and Aliens, and a few others.

So even without Star Trek, 2012 will be a much bigger movie year.

Friends took their 12 year old to the muppets. They loved. The kid had no idea what most of the jokes were.
My girl and I both loved it.
though I was surprised they made Fozzie’s eyebrows gray.

I thought that was a nice touch. Fozzie is getting old after all.
