Thankful Thanksgiving Day 9: My Wife
I was originally planning to end the series with this, but since it is her birthday today, I thought it would be better to do it now.
Where would I be without my wife? Alone for one. I also wouldn’t be able to be pursuing a writing career without doing it on the side. I wouldn’t have a son on the way. I never would have come to Texas and met the friends I’ve made here. I wouldn’t have non-American relatives which has helped remind me that, yes, there is a much bigger world out there.
But all of those are small things compared to everything else. I’m thankful for just having the chance to be with her. Even when we’re ignoring each other and watching TV or playing video games. We’ve been together for ten years, seven since we got married, and I’m still excited when she comes home from work (have to compete with the dog for attention).
I’m thankful for the hugs, the cuddles, the silliness, the time we spend together, the shared geekiness, the reminders that I’m loved. She’s always willing to listen to me ramble on about things; whether it’s a video game, something I read on the internet, my writing, politics or anything else.
Without my wife, my life would not be complete. So, most of all, I am thankful for her.

Amen, brother. My wife is my best friend and the woman I love.
Doesn’t get any better than that.
