SWTOR Pre-Order
Well, the Pre-Orders have officially begun. And even at $150 a pop, the Collector’s Editions have already sold out. The base game is $60 with the digital deluxe edition being $80. I decided to go with the digital deluxe. I’m a little disappointed, though not surprised, that the game is priced so high. But, it’s Star Wars and I’m a geek, so I must be true to myself.
One interesting thing about the pre-order is that they appear to be limiting the quantities sold. I find that amusing. I can see a limited quantity of the Collector’s Edition because of the nature of it and the physical items. But the digital ones? Why would they not sell as many as they can? Unless they are trying to limit the server load in the first few weeks of launch. That might not be a bad idea.
According to Amazon, the game is scheduled to be released Dec 31, 2011. I find that to be a suspicious date. Last date of the year sounds like a guess as it seems an unlikely day to release a game. The official date listed in the pre-order confirmation email is “Anticipated Released Date: Targeting Holiday 2011”. Now, Holiday 2011 can mean anything from Halloween to New Years. That’s quite a stretch.
