Promotional Pricing

Published by Wayne on

Bloody Comcast. Every year they jack up my internet bill by 50% so I have to wrangle with them to get a reasonable price. All because everything is “promotional” prices. That’s because they want to suck you in by seeming reasonable and then hope you won’t want to make an issue of it a year later.

My Comcast bill has been $57ish. Not a bad price for internet. It just bumped up to $67. Annoying but not too bad. EXCEPT they also tacked on an addtional $15 charge for...something? I dunno. When I asked what it was I was told it was for the Performance Pro 150mbps plan. Which was what the $67 was supposed to be for?

I go through the hoops to get the charge back down. They ask me all these pointless questions in order to try to sell me more stuff. Then they tack on all these extras. Free 30days of their streaming service. Which I can cancel in 30days. No, I don’t want that. You can cancel it in 30days. But I don’t want it and I don’t want to have to remember to cancel it.

Then, while chatting online, I lose my bloody internet connection. So I’m in this limbo between having this resolved and not having it resolved. I may have to cancel something in 30 days. I may have a cheaper bill, I may have a more expensive bill. But I don’t know because the company I’m frustrated with is not working.

What was this about? Oh right, promotional pricing. The idea is annoying. There’s no competition for my business. I have no other choices unless I want far slower DSL or satellite. Comcast is my only option. All these promotional prices do is show that they can jack up my price and most people will just accept it because they don’t want to go through this hassle and probably end up with a bunch of new services they don’t need.

If the price can be $57 for a year for a new person, it can be $57 for everyone. I don’t feel like I’m saving money when you quote me that I’m saving $30 a month and $360 a year. I feel like you were trying to scam me out of $360.
