Peak Trump

There’s a campaign GIF for Trump that has him photoshopped to become Thanos. He claims his reelection is inevitable. Then,  snaps his fingers and Nancy Pelosi and a bunch of Democrats are wiped from existence.

This GIF works on so many levels. First, I mean, come on, Thanos is the BAD guy. And this is made by his supporters. This highlights how they really think. They don’t care if he’s a bad guy. They just want to win.

Second, why is Thanos the bad guy? Because he wipes out half the population of the universe in a massive genocide. And they are equating that with what they want to do to Democrats. They don’t see violence as bad.

Third, and most importantly, the whole thing is built on a lie. The clip they chose of Thanos is right as he claims to be inevitable, goes to snap his fingers and then learns he doesn’t have the Infinity stones anymore. This is Thanos being smug and then LOSING.

I’d love to say this is comforting and a sign of Trump’s inevitable fall. But Boris Johnson’s Tories got reelected in a landslide in the UK so my hope for the world coming to its senses isn’t very high right now. This is the world of false realities that people choose to believe because….it makes them feel better for some reason?

Here’s hoping 2020 is better.
