Duty Admiral
This is Thiral. He’s an Andorian. I created him sometime last year, back in the days when the Andorian ship was still on the schedule. I’ve always liked Andorians and thought flying one, with a BOFF crew made entirely of Andorians, would be fun. My interest in STO waned in the dry spell of content last year and Thiral sat alone, stuck at around Lt. Commander 2.
Then the DOFF system was added. You could get skill points at the same time as leveling up that. I enjoyed the DOFF system. So I dusted Thiral off and started leveling him up exclusively via DOFF missions. I’d rotate between my main and him, completely ignoring leveling with my other two characters who were already maxed.
Again, my interest in STO waned a few times since the DOFF launch in December. But the announcement of the fleet starbases revived it and I’ve been playing it a bit over the past two weeks. When I left Thiral in the early spring, he was a bottom level rear admiral. So it didn’t take me long to finish that grind and get him up Vice Admiral. 6 months from level 13 to 50 done via DOFFing.
Now that he’s maxed level, and the Andorian ship is still nowhere in sight, I’m not sure what to do with him. To get to Vice Admiral, he only got his DOFF commendation categories up to:
- Diplomatic 2
- Science 1
- Engineering 2
- Military 2
- Exploration 2
- Espionage 1
- Medical 2
- Colonial 1
- Trade 1
- Development 2
- Recruitment 1
The only one even close to level 3 is Diplomatic, and that’s still 16k short. Not sure I really want to put to much effort into finishing those out.
However, I do have an interest in making his DOFF crew all Andorian as well. I currently have 26 out of 125 crew members being Andorian (plus the entire bridge crew). Due to special DOFF’s, I’ll never be exclusive Andorian (many limited time reward doffs are various species and to valuable to trash). But that’s less than 10 total.
So for now, Thiral will be resigned to running science and exploration missions to get anomalies, and hopping over to the Academy every few days to run the Andorian recruitment mission.
