Barbaric Habits

Published by Wayne on

I was making fried chicken the other day and it occurred to me, that if chicken were sentient, how much of a barbarian brute I’d be. Now, if you discount the cruel conditions chickens are subjected to, and just focus on my part, it’s still bad.

The way I cook fried chicken is coating the chicken in a mix of egg and milk, dipping it into a batter of flour, bread crumbs, and spices (chicken seasoning, garlic powder, salt and pepper) and then double coating. Then it is of course fried in oil.

So essentially, I am taking the meat of an adult chicken, coating it in the yoke of it’s unborn children, and then dipping it in boiling oil.

Small moment where I considered becoming a vegetarian. But then the chicken finished cooking and it was yummy.
