Artemis

I recently heard about this game, Artemis, and am intrigued.  From the descriptions and videos, you play with a group of friends as the crew of a starship. By linking, via LAN or over the net, several computers, each player takes a different role on the ship; from engineer, to weapons officer, to helmsman, etc. Then together you face different scenarios and try to work together to keep your ship alive.

From some of the videos, it looks both very cheesy and fun. It sounds like exactly what STO should have been. Each player has a different job but all appear to be vital to playing the game. Getting a group of geeky Star Trek fans together, such as my friends, and it could be a blast. Or a flop if no one gets into it. Plus, getting 6 computers might be tricky.

Looking at the website, the game appears to be ever growing and expanding. New features, such as two teams play against each other and possibly being able to modify your ship are being added. That could make it a fun long term game to get into. Though, it would of course, suffer from the usual problem of games with friends, finding the time to get together and play.

Anyone played this and have some first hand opinions to share?
