Galaxy’s Edge
There’s been a lot of new information coming out about Disney’s new Galaxy’s Edge Star Wars area coming to Disneyland and Disney World. Part of me wants to be a grumpy old man. See how Disney is exploiting Star Wars and over saturating it. The park is going to be so crowded with people it won’t be anything like in the video you see below. It’s such a waste of money.

But…
A greater part of me is giddy as a little kid at the idea of being able to walk around the Millenium Falcon. That part is ready to drop the grand or two to stay in the fancy Star Wars themed hotel and spend the week it will take to ride the two rides. It doesn’t care about the commercialism of it, it just wants to experience Star Wars in person.
That part is excited by the idea of being able to take my kid there. My wife loves Disney. Having grown up near there I’m partial to it too but not as much. We’ve taken our son once when we went to visit my sister. But going back for a full experience while he’s still young enough to be wowed by the magic of it? I’m in.
It’s kind of funny. You’re a kid, this kind of thing is magical and amazing. Then you’re a teen/young adult and it’s stupid and silly. Then you’re a grown up with kids and suddenly it’s magic again. Still stupid and silly on one level but you don’t care.
Everything I’ve read about this new zone has me pretty pumped to try it. It probably won’t live up to expectations. Nothing ever does. And it will be crazy crowded. When we went a few years ago there was a new Little Mermaid ride at Magic Kingdom. We didn’t try it out because the line was like 3hrs+. For a Star Wars thing? Get ready to wait.
But that’s okay. The kid in me doesn’t care.
